The barnyard animals are not happy with the way Farmer Brown is running the farm. The cows begin to type letters to the farmer to let him know that things need to change.

Watercolor paints are used to bring out the detail in the farmyard. Using brushes and watercolors the illustrator brings out the texture in the dirt roads and the hay on the barn floor. The colors can be mixed to make the cows in the book have a dirty look to them just like they would in real life. The lettering for the letters that are typed do like they were written using a typewriter. The title page goes with the story by showing the typewriter that the cows use to write the letters to the farmer. The end page shows the ducks getting what they ask for when they write the farmer a letter too.
