it was amazing

I've heard of Tuesdays with Morrie for a long time, but never read it. I saw the book was having its 10th anniversary this year; read a newspaper review, and finally realized what it was about. I just finished it. I am deeply moved! Just like the author, I spend every Tuesday with a friend who has a debilitating illness (my friend had a massive stroke). Over the past six years she has faced the loss of her capacities with outstanding cheerfulness and faith. Most of all she needs friends to surround her and just be with her. This quote from the book summarizes what we are learning: "Most of us all walk around as if we're sleepwalking. We really don't experience the world fully, because we're half-asleep...You strip away all that stuff and you focus on the essentials. When you realize you are going to die, you see everything much differently."

Lisa I read this book a few years back. I agree with your comments. You are being a great friend! Sometimes we all need to change our priorities.
