words to describe this book:

Absolutely Bananas.

This was such a great Memior. I felt like I couldn't put it down, I just had to know what these horrible parents were going to drag their kids into next. Maybe I am interested in it because it is so completely opposite of the world I live in....
Let's see, they moved around every 15 seconds; I have lived in the same place my entire life, with the exception of going to college.
They were dirt poor; we we're never rich, but always had food on the table.
The Mother cared more about herself than her kids, for instance they were all starving and she had candy bars hidden out to eat just for herself, arghhh, I could have screamed; My mom would do anything for me and my brother, if it meant starving to death or working 10 jobs, she would have done it.
The Dad was a flat out drunk; My dad still claims to this day that he has never drank anything, but the communion wine. Regardless, I have never seen any alcohol in their house or witnessed either one of them drunk.

This book just really makes me sick at Jeannette's parents, I know they were living in a different era, but child neglect is pretty black and white regardless. I am refreshed at how honest she is about her story, I would have been emabarrassed to write half the stories she included.
I am very suprised, but glad that all of the children ( Miuns Maureen) turned out to be moderately successful and normal somehow.

Question though, why does it seem like women love this one and most men seem to hate it?!?!?!
