This is a super enjoyable mystery - done in the same manner as the best classic detective novels. It takes information that you think you understand and manipulates you into looking past the obvious. I had the "can't put it down" feeling, which doesn't actually happen very often to me. I really loved that it helps kids learn the basic structure of a mystery and that the mystery is a big deal (not just a missing bike or something like that). So many kids books have simple mysteries, but this one is complex enough to keep adults interested, while allowing kids to follow along and potentially solve it along with Ted and Kat.
