What I Thought Was True
Not quite as emotionally charged as My Life Next Door (which completely moved me to ugly, sobbing tears last summer), but a lovely summer story nonetheless. The thing I love most about Fitzpatrick's story telling is the setting. As someone who spent the better part of her summers as a kid/teen on a house boat riding along the Chesapeake Bay, the way Fitzpatrick describes these boat towns, the smells and sounds, and overall feel of the environment is spot on. Even though I am not very fond of summer as an adult, she reminds me of the days when I enjoyed it and why.
