it was ok
bookshelves: 2010, german

bah. i had looked forward to this book. i was on holiday back at home and thought i would dearly like to read something german, something new, something light, a crime novel perhaps. this promised to be interesting - set in the 19th century in berlin, some gruesome women murders, the corpses specifically prepared. an independent woman, running away from being married off... sounded really nice.
then it kind of failed me. you knew fairly early on who the murderer was despite the smokescreen put up. the writing style was not particularly good, some sentences were just weird. as an editor someone should have done more work on it.
however, not entirely without merit, i finished it quickly and it had its good moments, but from what i expected it to be - disappointing.
