it was amazing

I read this book over 25 years ago and haven't had the opportunity to re-read it, so accept the five stars as the perspective of a 13-year-old. However, at that time it was breathtaking to me. My response was so intense that I couldn't even do the book report I had planned on it (so I read "The Screwtape Letters" as my alternate book, which resulted in a far less emotional but more practical response). "The Robe" follows the life of the Roman soldier who won Christ's garment by lot at the Crucifixion, telling of its miraculous powers and the spiritual journey on which it leads him. No doubt my response would be rather less intense today, since it would not be a completely new genre now and I read with a more critical eye, but I suspect it would still be a worthwhile experience.
