liked it

This was off of either the Times or Tribs "best of 2009" list. Highly reminiscent of The #1 ladies detective agency books and not just because it is set in Africa.

It features a female business owner of a certain age that has taken in children to raise unexpectedly later in life, has a very quiet almost non-entity husband, makes money in a way people don't expect, uses similar language structures as #1 and the female protagonist ends up overly involved in the lives of her clients and friends. Solves all their problems and makes the world a better and more courteous place.

Anyway, it's fine, but has been done before very well by someone else.
