Well, I’m unfortunately a long way from being in uniformity with God’s will. Then again, I’m not entirely sure I agree that God wills every horrible thing that happens to us or that we should accept suffering quietly. (St. Alphonsus wouldn’t make much of a psalmist.) But Christ does tell us not to worry, and Paul tells us to learn to be content, so I am trying to put some of this book into practice. However, I think it takes a saint…

Adam Hi Skylar,
I agree that it takes a saint, but we're all called to be saints and by God's grace we can.

Adam

Skylar Burris Well, there are saints and then there are saints...I don't think all people are called to be saints in the same *sense* of men and women like those the Catholics call saints, anymore than I think all men are called to be pastors or teachers.

I don't think a saint must assume every calamity is God's will. Where then would come the social-changing rage against injustice? There should be saints like this Alphonsus de Liguori, but other types of saints as well.

D. Moss Just as the blood of the Lamb on the doorpost saved all in the house, whatever their spirituality may be, so the blood of Christ saves us however 'unsaintly' we may be. I'm just beginning to discover how amazing this is!
Blessings! /\
