** spoiler alert ** Great read, full of gritty suspense and rusty-blade description, just as I would expect to read from Flynn. What really happened that night when Libby's family was killed? The answer is complicated, Libby learns, as the the story is pulled, like a satiated tapeworm, from people she never knew existed and those she swore she would never speak of again. I love the way Flynn recalls the very real devil-worshipping cult hysteria and hyperbolic child abuse cases (later proven to be utterly and completely fabricated) of the early 90s to inform the public sentiment surrounding the murders of Libby's family. Somewhat difficult to read, but ultimately satisfying.
