I don't normally read books by Dean Koontz because quite frankly some of his books have scared the socks off of me. I bought this for a quarter at a garage sale (along with 2 other of his books) for a quarter each. Don't know why, but I bought it but have put off reading it for over a year because I didn't know if I could handle it. Like the one of his I read a few months ago, this one wasn't too scary - just a little strange. It had more the feel of a James Patterson Thriller instead of a Stephen King novel with the supernatural elements present. I gave it only 3 stars because Koontz's attempts at being funny got to be a little tiring after awhile and somehow I just couldn't buy into the characters turning out to be some kind of "new-age" superheros. Good quick vacation type read but nothing memorable!
