really liked it
bookshelves: sci-fi

This was a really interesting read. There is not a continual plot, per se, but mostly semi conected shorts. Each one has its merits (and drawbacks). For me, though, the best part was that it was a future that was set mostly in our past (1999-2006 for more than 3/4 of the book). In Bradbury's future, the racial issues in the United States South are still as extreme as they were in the 1940's (maybe I am overly optimistic about how they are in 2010). Every chapter reveals itself to be copyrighted in 1948. So I actually liked this book for its insight into our recent history more than its scifi predictions of the future.
Don't get me wrong, the visual writing of the first couple of chapters is very well done and interesting. But over all, this book is really just kinda' funny...
