Violet Dawn is categorized as suspense. In the introduction, the author says to "climb aboard for another mind-rattling ride" and signs off with "seatbelt suspense" written under her name. I expected suspense to pull me through the book, but finished with a sense of disappointment. I never had the sense that it wasn't all going to work out in the end; the "expert" criminal was to clumsy with important details to get away with his crime. It isn't that there weren't some elements of suspense or that the ciminal's mistakes hurt the story, my disappointment stems from a lack of met expectations. The story seems more like a cozy, small town mystery than a story of "seatbelt suspense."
