I went into it thinking it would cover all aspects of the revolution in 1776, including details around Jefferson and the Declaration of Independence. However, McCullough focused only on the military aspect of the story. With that, he did a fabulous job. He seems to paint the individuals without jaundicing the reader with his view. Washington seems like a real person as opposed to the demi-god he is frequently made out to be. A bit long winded at times, but a recommended read.
