Really this is more like a 3.5 than a 3, it's just that GoodReads doesn't allow for half-stars.
This sequel to Everlost was pretty good, but not nearly as well-paced as the previous book. It's quite long, and while a lot happens, most of it feels like a set-up for the third book. The sense of wonder and discovery just somehow isn't as awesome in this one, either; the land of Everlost feels in some ways like old hat, even as the characters (and the reader) learn more about "skinjacking" (hopping into a living person's body) and about the mysterious wind that blows harder the closer one gets to the Mississippi River.
I'm looking forward to the final book in the trilogy; I just wish this one didn't feel QUITE so much like a middle book.
