I liked this book a lot. The characters are introduced gradually through short vignettes about the various traumas they have suffered - then they are slowly connected by the work of PI Jackson Brodie. The central mysteries that Brodie tries to solve are the mysterious disappearance of Olivia Land at age 3, and the senseless murder of Laura at age 18. As he investigates, more and more loose ends appear - the homeless girl Lily-Rose, the sexy nurse Shirley with a missing neice... but eventually the pieces fall into place. It's well-done and not at all sappy.
