really liked it
bookshelves: futuristic, mythological, teen, sci-fi, thriller, young-adult
Recommended for: Anyone who enjoyed mythology or "end of the world' scenarios.

We listened to this book on CD, going to and from Utah. My husband and I really enjoyed the story, the narrative style, and the characterizations. The one complaint we had - the reason for the missing star - is just how repetitive the descriptions were. The hero emphasized the same point - "I don't remember anything/I don't know what's going on" - way too many times. There were also particular phrases the author enjoyed far too much.

All in all, we were impressed with this original story idea, with the honesty of the hero, and the way the group of teenage boys interacted with each other. We will certainly be picking up the sequel, when it's available.
