In addition to being a very funny book, this book actually makes some pretty astute points about the state of books today. Sure, some of us (me) might be snobs about what people choose to read, but if a book affects someone in a positive way and they enjoy themselves, who are we to judge?

That being said, the act of writing the novel is hilarious because people really do read terrible books, and plenty of authors are only too happy to write them. And maybe the books I choose to read are self-indulgent and pretentious! Damn you, Steve Hely, for trying to give me some perspective but hiding it inside a laugh-out-loud book!
