it was amazing
bookshelves: read-in-2010, books-i-want-in-my-library

My only complaint about this book was that it wasn't longer. How cheesy am I? Seriously--if you are a book person, you will truly enjoy this book. I found it simultaneously humorous, moving, and humbling, mostly since it made me feel horribly under-read. A few years ago I read Fadiman's The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down, a fascinating look at the intersection of modern and traditional medicine. But this one was much better. She intertwined her love for reading, her family, her children, her husband, books, words, bookstores--all seamlessly, all wonderfully. In a word, this book was delightful.
