it was amazing
bookshelves: interest, i-m-in-it, childbirth, midwifery, ottawa-writer

Great collection of vastly differing experiences of childbirth. As one of the participants, I wondered how my story would be integrated into the collection, since my birth story (for my first child) is not exactly inspiring from a midwifery perspective. Karin was able to focus on the aspects of midwifery care that did work for me and she related truthfully where the experience seems to have failed me. I'm extremely pleased with how she told our story, true to the facts that I gave her during our three interviews.

All of the birth stories are told in an easily readable fashion, related factually and with objectivity. I enjoyed learning about others' experiences of the same (never the same!) event in such an intimate way. I also really enjoyed reading about Karin's own experiences of childbirth during five different births.

A fascinating and informative read!
