1.5 stars - Not a bad book. Just didn't like it.

Dearest Ms.Bray, it's time to say goodbye.

I fall in love with The Great and Terrible Beauty when it came out. Strong female protagonists, lyrical prose, great atmosphere, interesting magic system, you name it. Then came Sweet Far Thing which is such a let down. I don't really need to know that much details on the suffragette movement. The info dump is ever so boring.

The Diviners has the same problem. Hundred pages into the book, I still have no clue what is the plot. All I read about is the night life in 20's New York, the gamble scene in Harlem, tons of roaring twenties slangs and on and on and on. Yes, world building is important but you don't do that at the expense of the characters or the stories! In the end, I just didn't care enough about any character to continue the book. How sad.
