This is Kim Harrison’s first foray into the young adult world. Before reading this book, read the short story in Prom Nights from Hell. The problem with this book is that the short story should have been added to the beginning of the book because she assumes too much at the onset of the story. Recalling about a quarter into the book about the short story, I flew through the rest of the book. Having read all her Rachel Morgan books, this book was disappointing. She has a whiny female lead, who can’t adapt to her new life. I understand as a YA it is going to deal with the high school mentality, but the character doesn’t really explain her previous life and refers to it often. It was annoying. The storyline was good, but more depth would have been nice. A quick read, and as long you don’t want a complicated story, you will be fine.
