This is just a bit too melodramatic, foreshadowy, melancholy, repetitive and silly for me, I think. At least, right now. Maybe I could enjoy it in a park in summer. It's certainly not great literature and I think the first-person perspective adds little to the suspense. I also think this might be a case when the movie just has the advantage over the book--in tone, tension and characterization. But I'm glad I tried it, since I was obsessed with the film when I was 10 or 11 and always wondered about the novel.
