Jessica Wow, it looks like the Booksters all really love this one. Is it awesome?

Paul Bryant Ted Chiang is a young science fiction hotshot who wins Nebulas and Hugos every year without fail. So far I kind of like his stories but I'm not about to hire a skywriting plane to inscribe the clouds with TED CHIANG IS THE BEST THING SINCE J G BALLARD SIGNED PAUL over Nottingham. I'm half way through so I'll post a review when I'm done. At the same time as TC I've lumbered myself with three theory books at the moment and that stuff isn't like fiction, you have to try to actually understand it, so I'm making slooow progress.

Ian "Marvin" Zabala-Graye Hi, Paul, did you finish this?
It sounds fantastic from what I've read elsewhere.

Cecily Paul wrote, in 2007: "... I'm half way through so I'll post a review when I'm done...."

Hard going, huh? ;)
Anyway, you've got time to (re)read the brilliant title story before the film comes out in November. However, it sounds as if the screenplay omits almost all of the fascinating linguistics, physics, and philosophy in favour of standard alien thrills. Bums on seats, I guess.

Paul Bryant thanks for the info - definitely want to see the movie.

Michael Perkins One review of the just-released film....

Paul Bryant I just saw another good review. And it has Amy Adams.
