bookshelves: religion-culture-criticism
Read in January, 1986

My favorite translation of one of the world's great books. And the photos are wonderful, too.

Johnny an excellent translation, very important, since most translations of this text suck.

the pictures, as well as the poems in the original chinese, really add a lot to the text, perhaps providing some of the tranquility that would have been readily available to the reader in an earlier age.

Johnny I've noticed that different translations of a text like this are considered different editions by Goodreads, and that comments for a specific translation will display for other translations as well. So I've started the habit of naming the translators in my review to prevent confusion.

In this case, the translators are Gia-Fu Feng and Jane English.

Jamey Yes, that flaw in the program here--and on Amazon, where it directly affects sales--has been annoying the shit out of me via my Sophocles translation since 2005 when it came out.
