I couldn't put The Age of Innocence down. My only prior Wharton experience was seeing this movie in middle school. I hated it, but I was 12. Now in my elderly years, the enlightenment of Newland Archer is nothing short of thrilling. People! Discovering things about society! Seeing foibles for what they are!

Where are today's social critics and satirists? I mean, it's not going to be all Eat Pray Love forever, right? Surely not.
