really liked it
bookshelves: mystery, romance
Read in December, 2009

By the time the third book in a series rolls around, I'm usually out the door or I find that I'm having to brace myself to read it, but I was definitely looking forward to this one, and I'm definitely looking forward to the next one.

There are times that I'd like to smack some sense into Julia and Brisbane, but that's not a knock on the story, just an observation of how into the characters I got.

Also, I'm vaguely amused at the hissy fits people seem to be having over the cover, because, OMG, IT LOOKS LIKE A BODICE RIPPER AND WHAT WILL PEOPLE THINK WHEN THEY SEE ME READING IT. There was a recent Sunday post on Daily Kos where an editor wrote of her love for romance and was questioned in the comments about this "perceived" lack of respect given to romance readers (as in, the commenters didn't feel that this existed, aka, the OP was just "too sensitive") yet here we are with everyone disclaiming the "icky" romance cover. /babble
