I don't know what it is about this author's writing that makes me gravitate toward it. I love the incredible raw honesty within Sam through all his experiences. I love the way the boys, including Sam, were *real* boys to the T! Not unrealistic forms of male perfection. (not that I have a problem with that, I love that stuff too) The writing is very engaging and captivating in it's fearless exploration of friendship, romance, human emotion, and the unlikely subject of Heavy Metal music all woven together from the male perspective. This was a fabulous debut and Krovatin's writing only gets better with his 2nd novel, Venomous.
