Noah's been a wanderer his whole life--his family only settled long enough for hs mother to be unfaithful and his father to "start over" in a new locale, but Noah never forgot the three years he lived in Blackcreek next door to Cooper his best childhood friend.

Cooper's an orphan, raised by his aunt and uncle since his parents died in a fire. His best childhood friend, Noah, up and disappeared years ago, and has now returned to Blackcreek. The biggest difference isn't that they are now 30.
No, it's that Noah's gay.

Noah stays with Cooper, just until he can get his own place, but soon they are enjoying each others companionship. Neither man had lasting friendships as a kid, and though Cooper's straight, he's developing an attraction for his friend.

Told in alternating first-person POV we get an inside look at Noah and Cooper as they become more than friends. There are many complications, not the least of which Cooper's homophobic family. The sex is molten and the story is poignant. I was particularly moved by the later portion where Cooper is hospitalized and his family block Noah from his bedside. It happens every day in reality--and that really brought the whole bookhome, for me.

This M/M romance begins a series of gay coupling romances. As the first, it is a great read and sets up a second book well. Serious formatting issues, and some copy-editing snafu's did hamper my enjoyment slightly.
