Much better than Westerfield's very average "Uglies" series, The Midnighters trilogy is about Jessica and her new friends, a select group of people who are granted an extra hour of time right at midnight. The whole world and everything in it stops dead at midnight, while this small group of people are still animate and able to move around and do whatever they want. But what about the things that are NOT of this world; ancient things pushed into the secret hour by humanity? They're in the secret hour, too, and they're plotting a way to get back into real time. How can Jessica and her friends defeat the ancient magic? Creepy and exciting with a lot of cool details; how many thirteen letter words can YOU think of? They may save your life one day.
