it was amazing
bookshelves: ebooks, literature, read-in-2010

The first time I started this book, I couldn't quite get into it. I am so glad I gave it another try because I absolutely loved it. I think the secret is to read it in large chunks (or one go if you have the time).

The story is based around 2 memoirs: an old lady, who is a patient in a psychiatric hospital in Ireland is secretly writing her life story and at the same time her psychiatrist becomes interested in her and her reasons for being in the hospital. These are linked by small sections of the patient's current life. It's really quite a sad story, but not overly sentimental.
