really liked it
bookshelves: 2014, children-s-books, current-home-library, miss-l-reads

I vaguely remember having some of these poems read to me as a child. Mostly within the confines of school. I picked up the 30th Anniversary edition (which includes extra poems) and decided I would read them with my five year old. Some of the humor was over her head but many of them she found just plain silly... which I found to be utterly fantastic! She loved the simple illustrations and many of them she remembers the gist of and asks for them to be read again and again. Even my three year old clued into some and asks about them. Granted, there were some as I read them I thought, "Um, yeah I need to explain some things here and we need to talk about how this is not the right thing to do." Five year olds can be quite literal at times, you know.

Overall, quite fun :)
