I wanted to like this collection, but it just never fully caught my interest and attention. The first one, "Outbreak" was really incoherent, with too many story lines all stumbling over each other and leaving me rather confused. "Nightmare Asylum" seemed the most coherent and strong of all the works in here. But even it seemed to rely on rather bland, one-dimensional characters and themes sadly stripped of real substance, rendering the Alien concept's potential rather stagnant. The cynical attitude towards humankind, military, religion, and the corporate man often came across as someone whining rather than having something substantial to say. Too bad, this coulda been a good one.
