Ryan wrote the story about how Marian Anderson was trying to be the best singer there was. The illustrations depicted how real pictures would have been in that time era with the sepia tones. a few small pages had slight color, and thats when Marian was performing. I believe this was done to show how important it was. The story began with an introduction of Marian and her songs before starting out the real story of how Marian overcame her struggles of not being allowed to sing. At the end of the story the author added a section of a actual biography of Marian Anderson to back his story. However, no creditonals were given. Fans of music can come together and read this story because it shows the struggles previous artists faced with making their songs heard.

Students could find their favorite song of Anderson's and share it with the classroom
