I enjoy books that take me in historical scavenger hunt, and this books was one of them. Julie Jacobs sets out to her homeland in Siena to find a treasure that her mom died trying to find. She finds out that she the ancestor of Guiletta Tolomei, the young girl whose life has been immortalized by Romeo and Juliet, and that a curse has been set on the Tolomei's, Salimbeni's and Marescotti's family, a curse that she feels she needs to break.

I loved this modern twist on Romeo and Juliet, and I liked that although the history behind Romeo and Juliet might be fictional, it makes you think about their tragic lives.
