Joe Hill's latest book, NOS4A2, is story-telling in its finest form.

The premise of the story is easily found - I won't try and sum up 700+ pages in this review - but to say it was creative, intelligent and action-packed would be an understatement. His characters are (for the most part) well developed and engaging - there were times when I felt like I was visiting old friends even though I had never read the book before. And that is the skill of a good story-teller...

A few downsides: the bad guy wasn't really all THAT bad - he could have used a little more menace/nastiness and really brought that character home. Also, the constant references to his father's work (at least half a dozen that I counted) was cute for the first one or two - then actually became distracting and frustrating.

On the whole, a satisfying book and one that will be read again...what greater praise can you give?
