really liked it
bookshelves: 2009, ya
Recommended for: YA, especially those dealing with a loss

Really enjoyed this book. I loved all the family stuff, with each girl coping (or trying to) in their own way. I liked how they all came together in the end without having it be some mushy, "Now we understand each other" moment. Also, that said moment came over a year after the father had died.

I could have done without all the Pete stuff just because I think that's such a huge cliche. The smart but unexperienced girl finally finds "love" with her best guy friend who she never really thought about that way, but he's been secretly pining for her. Still it did serve to break up some of the tension from dealing with death.
