really liked it
bookshelves: historical-fiction, thriller, general-fiction

At first I was a bit disappointed with this story - I think because it is NOTHING at all like the Boudica quartet which I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. This story is really two alternating stories and the beginnings of both of them were a bit slower than I expected. That changed as the book progressed as did my enjoyment of the story. By the end of the book, I was once again quite impressed with Scott's storytelling abilities as well as the research which goes into her stories. I do, however, think that she should have come up with a different name for her main character, Stella. The first and last name together are just a bit too similar to a cultural artifact related to the story to make the name seem real.

If I ever get to the British Museum, I'd love to see the crystal skull there.
