it was amazing
bookshelves: fiction, religion
Recommended for: those who thought MY NAME WAS ASHER LEV was a fluke
Read in January, 1992

Potok's sequel to MY NAME IS ASHER LEV does what any sequel should do: it raises the stakes, investigates threads from the previous work that were unexplored, and tills new ground. While MNIAL is about how the artist sometimes makes others suffer, TGOAL is primarily about the sacrifices of the artist himself, as Asher is asked to give up his most cherished possession: his own son. Incredibly sensitive and important.
