really liked it

Perhaps even darker than its predecessor, The Ask and the Answer forces the question: what moral compromises would you make to protect the people you love?

Todd and Viola's descent into this quagmire happens slowly, and so the first third of the novel has a somewhat slower pace. The last third is nearly impossible to put down.

For those who are squeamish (like me), it's best to be aware that there are some torture scenes. You've been warned.
