it was amazing
bookshelves: comics, rereads, nonfiction

I laughed, I cried, and I already thought Alison Bechdel was a supergenius before reading this.

Update, 5 July 2012: Reread this before a second reading of Bechdel's Are You My Mother?... Holy crap these books are good.

23 November 2013: Reread again before going to see the musical adaptation at the Public Theater. Completely felled by a reference to The Worm Ouroboros on page 116 — a subtle and perfect image working along with the text, of course, but daaaaaaang, grief be crazy. Also, the show? Was pretty freaking amazing. Time to go(re)read all its reviews, and then maybe A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, and maybe another attempt at Ulysses.... Sheesh. That is how epic this book is, youse guys. Epically epic.
