it was amazing
bookshelves: ya-paranormal, urban-fantasy

I haven't read a vampire novel in a while, but there's been such great buzz about this one that I couldn't resist (not to mention the super-cool title).

Holly Black totally delivers. This was a tumble down a dark and twisted rabbit hole that hooked me early. I especially liked Tana, and the fact it takes almost the entire book to peel back her many layers and understand who she is and the choices she makes.

There's something so sensual and gritty about Holly Black's style of YA, and her take on vamps is clever, sexy and appropriately creepy. It also offers some sharp commentary about reality TV, consumerism and voyerism.

A very cool read. (Yep, pun intended)
