really liked it

hm. for a book whose author claims not to be poetry, this book, i am really starting to believe, is poetry. ferlinghetti's lines upon lines of pithy sayings and aphorisms operate as poetic lines.

i guess also i have a soft spot for grumpy old men tellin' you how it really is. i actually agree with much of what he is saying here about what poetry is and what poetry does.
