This is not my usual genre, but it is set in British Columbia (where I live) and was recommended by a friend so I gave it a try. I confess, I enjoyed it.

It’s a murder mystery that is as much about the people and places as it is about the murder or the mystery. Deverell writes with a quiet humour that I found quite endearing and he has an obvious affection for his characters who are, for the most part, very well developed and real.

The ending was a little weak; it becomes quite obvious who did it early on but the how and the why were pretty contrived. But, all in all it was an enjoyable read.
