it was amazing
bookshelves: 2009, fiction, spy, youngadult

I've been checking these out of the library, & this one seemed special. I opened the hardback to the back of the very last page before the back cover, & it was covered in lipstick kisses. I like to think that there's a 14-year-old girl out there that was so smitten by Alex Rider that she kissed the book. I also like to think of her as the smartest, prettiest girl in her class. She received the books for Christmas or her birthday after showing so much interest & loyalty in them at the library. She has a party with an Alex Rider theme, even. Now there is a throng of 14-year-old boys out there, dreaming of winning her over by reading the series themselves. Some pick up the graphic novels as a shortcut, but still, they are reading. They, too, take up footie, martial arts, English accents, & hope to one day be as cool as Alex Rider.
