The Illuminator (Illuminator, #1)
Nov 23, 2009
Set in 14th Century England, this book touches upon the end of the Middle Ages. Normally I don't read books like this, because of the melodrama, death, plagues, fires and people in hopeless situations. This one was a real page turner and kept me going for most of it. The last hundred pages fell into some predictability, but gave me cause for pause. Wycliffe's desire to translate the Bible into English was major for this period of time. The corruption of the church and the state reminds me of current times. A bit of a soap opera. The whole time I was reading I was thinking how the story felt like a movie.
