I enjoyed this book. The plot was original..alternating between the world of Sadima and Hahp. In Sadima's time, magic has been gone for a long time. She is involved with the two men who will bring it back. She loves Franklin but distrusts Samiss. In Hahp's time magic is back but those who learn it pay a high price. The wizards have developed a method which will bring out the innate magic in boys but only one will be chosen. The others will die. I enjoyed the book but it is not for everyone. Definitely, for older teens. I also did not like the total cliff hanger. I know it is part of a trilogy but no resolutions have been resolved at the end of the first book.
