High fashion is taken off the shelf, unfolded, and dressed down in brilliant style. Bravo to Dana Thomas for peeling off the veneer of modern luxury to reveal the ugly truth.
Thomas traces luxury from its regional, not-so-humble beginnings to the large-scale baggage it leaves us with today. While corporate powers are absorbing brand name logos at an alarming rate, the super rich are abandoning time-worn status symbols. The future of luxury has never been so undistinguished. That is, until "Deluxe" scours the globe for some semblance of luxury's weary soul.
