Andrea's Reviews > The Hobbit
So I read and loved the Lord of the Rings trilogy when I was supposed to as a late teenager, but I never had read and loved the Hobbit when I was supposed to before that. I never got around to reading afterwards either, although at the end of the trilogy I was missing the world immensely. I wish i had now, because this dramatization (which was the only audio version my local branch had available when I was setting off on a trip) was probably not the way to go. Gandalf and the dwarves just seemed all wrong (although I admit that it seems that the movies have influenced my ideal dwarf considerably). Still, I love a good adventure story, and this was one, so after I adjusted, I enjoyed it. I also wish that I had read The Hobbit first, because it seems so silly when it has the epic hanging over it. I should probably still go back and read the original for the Gandalf (and the dwarvish race) in my head.
