A Japanese suspense/mystery. Boy. Quite different than any American suspense/mystery I've read (which, granted, aren't many). I was surprised at the graphic nature of it, more so because it was written by a Japanese woman--it just seems so against the stereotype that we are made to believe in. I also found it hard to get involved in any of the characters--I didn't feel one way or another towards them. I don't know if it is the translation aspect or just this style of writing, but it was very non-emotional and sort of spelled everything out too soon to the reader (i.e., after throwing something down a drain, "...little did she know that this small act would save her life."). Still, the story itself was well written.

Syura i agree with you. in the beginning, everything is all good. however, i am quite dissapointed with the ending, though, i have to admit it is far from stereotype.
